Fraud Alert

We have been alerted that members of the public are receiving text messages purporting to be from their GP surgery. The text advises them that they have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for Omicron and that they must order a test kit using a link within the text. The link then asks for a payment of £0.99 for postage.

Also be alert regarding payment for testing kits as we are aware fraudsters are now spoofing the NHS no reply mobile number. They are sending texts to individuals, that appear within the chain of legitimate messages they may have previously received from NHS no reply, advising of the need to take a test. They do not charge for the tests but do make a small charge for delivery. Once the individual makes the small payment the fraudsters use various methods to attempt to take large amounts of money out of their bank using the details they provided when making the payment.
